Intel® i915GV chipset Aero Compa tible ?

Hi does anyone know if a Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (up to 128MB) and the chipset is Intel® i915GV chipset will be compatible with Windows Aero on vista. Many Thanks Iain

I have read reports that it does not run Aero in Beta 2.

Thats the graphics card I have. I have researched this and while the card does support features required by Aero, Intel have not made wddm drivers for it. So until they make the drivers there will be no aero. They may not even make the drivers.

I understand the native Vista drivers work with Aero. Just DON'T update to Intels

Nah they don't unfortunately. I don't have glass as an option in themes.

Well, others here do. Have you made sure that it is allocating the full 128MB of memory to the adapter? Your machine would need at least 640MB of memory to meet the requirement (128MB for the video and 512MB left for Vista).
Tom

For the record, it is not a "graphics card". It is an integrated chipset for those users who cannot afford anything better, or just do not know any better.

Really? I have not seen any posts about it, my apologies. I do have the full allocation of graphics memory and 1Gb ram. Windows reporting says my drivers do not support wddm. I have tried windows update and Intel website. Can you help with this please?

Let's not be pedantic eh? Everyone knows what I mean.

"Graphics Adaptor" would be the correct description.

Really, what a petty statement.

Glad to be of service. I found the other post petty so that evens it out a bit :-)

You found the correct answer petty?

I found his statement petty - "It is an integrated chipset for *those users who cannot afford anything better, or just do not know any better*". People do not really have that much of a choice when it comes to laptop graphics and cannot upgrade them for better performance. Just because some have to use integrated graphics it does not mean they cannot afford them.

Ah yes, agree with you.
